Summer Fun in the Desert

July 3, 2010

Mylee finally found her true retrieving roots today. We had a “learn to love the water” day. Well, now she does! She retrieved her toy for an hour and then came in the house and collapsed! Finally I’ve found something to wear out that dog. Here are a couple of pictures of her in the pool. Her daughter, Rowdie, decided that water is not for her. We will work on it and hopefully have the two of them jumping in together by the end of the week! It certainly creates a new look for the poodle when they dry and are all curly…kinda cute actually :)

If you haven’t taught your dog to swim, take it slow and make it fun! Make sure you show them how to get out of the pool so they don’t drown!! Great exercise for them and it’s easy on the joints. What a great summer activity to enjoy with your companion :)

A Look at Agility

April 24, 2010

Here is a link where you can watch Mylee and I on one of our “good” agility runs. Thanks Lloyd for video taping and posting it for me! http://www.youtube.com/user/gooddogagility#p/search/1/ZBBD57k60xg

As soon as I get my scanner going, I will post pics of Mylee too! Agility is such fun, thanks to the awsome instructors at Meadow Lane Farm Dog Sports!! Kodie, Kim, Anita and Cindy are absolutely wonderful!!! www.mlfdogsports.com

NADAC

January 8, 2010

Well, Mylee and I have decided to start our agility trials with NADAC (www.nadac.com  ). They are all about speed and accuracy. They do not use the teeter, table or tire jump so obstacles are limited. If you have a fast dog, it’s a great place to start. We are working on our weave poles still….they are a tough one. Mylee can get through them if she enters them correctly. We will be up at Paradise Valley Park the weekend of Jan 16-17. Come up for gander if you have time. It is off of Bell and 40th St. in Phoenix. Bring some chairs and a cooler. It’s a great day! Many great dogs to watch and learn about the sport. Everyone is so friendly and willing to chat about the sport. I love it! If you are there, look for us. Mylee is the only toy brown(ish) poodle out there so we should be easy to spot on the novice courses!! I would love to chat with you!

7 Weeks Old

September 1, 2009

Well, the pups are 7 weeks old and getting ready to go to their forever families! It will be so boring around here when they all leave us. Liza is going to be staying here with us. Several of the babies will be going to a dear friend, Beth,  so I am excited that I will still get to see them as they grow up! Lucy is going all the way to Missouri with her new mom, Jennifer! Congratulations Jennifer!!! She is flying here to pick her up next week. Rowdie will eventually be living with her new brother Leo and her Mom and Dad, Therese and Eric, all the way in Alaska! She is working on growing her winter coat already!! LOL “Bear” is still looking for his forever family and will be ready to go Labor Day weekend. Give me a shout if you are searching for a little love bug to join your family. He is adorable! Here are some current pictures of the babies.

Looking for a home of my own

August 14, 2009

Here is the black/silver boy. He is looking for a home. Krystal started calling him bear…for he looks like one! He has a super thick coat and it’s so shiny. He is developing a sweet personality that is a great mixture of  lap dog and ready to romp.

Lovin’ the pups!

Just sucking air…mom left me high and dry!

Life has been extremely different the past few weeks with the puppies in the house. Lots of sleepless nights making sure they all are getting fed, and getting up to let Mylee out a lot more often, even at night :(   Everyone is gaining weight by huge amounts, but I’m sure they will start thinning out once their eyes open and they start running around. Mylee is eating more than 6 times her normal amount of food, and is still thin. It is amazing how much it takes out of her to feed all five babies. Harley was finally “allowed” to come near the box to see what all the fuss is about. He doesn’t take much interest in the babies. In fact, he just sniffs them and tries to hide!! It is quite amusing. Here are some shots just taken with the dogs and the pups…and friends!!

Why won't they let me in to see what all the commotion is about?

How Many Puppies?

July 4, 2009

Mylee is beyond the word huge. I can’t imagine that she is going to make it one more week…at least! At the end of the week we are planning on getting some xrays done to see just how many little bundles of energy we will be expecting. Yesterday she was snuggled up in bed with me, tummy side up. I had my hand on her tummy and the pups were having a party in there! It was so funny to feel them wiggling around. I don’t know how Mylee sleeps when all that is going on inside her. No wonder she sleeps all day long, they keep waking her up!!  Oh, the joys of motherhood!!

Always on the move

These poodles just keep us hopping! Mylee is always hiding her toys in miscellaneous places just to keep herself busy.
